Description
The Noctilux-M 50 f/1.2 ASPH. is the reissue of the legendary first-generation Noctilux, produced from 1966 to 1975 and the world's first serially produced lens to use two aspherical elements. It returns as part of Leica's Classics range, faithfully recreating the unmistakable look of the original.
Images taken at open aperture have a soft, almost dreamlike quality and an exquisite bokeh, while stopping down brings increased sharpness and depth of field. To preserve the original rendering, the historic optical calculation was only minimally changed and carefully adapted to today's glass types and production methods.
The optical design comprises six lenses in four groups with two large-diameter aspherical elements, and a sixteen-blade diaphragm keeps out-of-focus highlights beautifully round. A true landmark lens, reborn for the digital M.
