Description
The compact APO-Summicron-M 35 f/2 ASPH. pushes the limits of what is technologically possible to deliver uncompromising optical performance. Ten lens elements are arranged in five groups; three of them carry aspherical surfaces (one on both sides), for a total of four aspherical surfaces, while six elements use glass with anomalous partial dispersion. Together with apochromatic correction, this renders images with virtually no chromatic aberration, even at high-contrast edges or in backlighting, a quality rarely found at this focal length and a first for a 35 mm M-Lens.
A floating element maintains consistently high image quality across the entire focusing range. The close focus distance of just 0.3 metres marks a first for M-Lenses in this category: a detent at 0.7 metres on the focus ring lets the photographer feel the transition into the close-focus range, where focusing switches to Live View or the EVF. The 300-degree focus rotation gives ample range for extremely precise focusing.
Crafted in Wetzlar to the most exacting standards, the lens combines reference-class sharpness with a remarkably compact, lightweight body. An exceptional tool for once-in-a-lifetime Leica moments.
