Description
The APO-Summicron-M 90 f/2 ASPH. is widely regarded as one of the highest-performing lenses ever made. Apochromatic colour correction and an aspherical surface are combined here for the first time in a lens of this type, with two high-refractive-index elements and two elements of anomalous partial dispersion among its five elements.
Brilliance and resolving power are exemplary even at full aperture, and light fall-off is extremely low. The fast f/2 aperture allows short exposure times even in dim light, minimising camera shake, which makes the lens ideal for portraiture, reportage, theatre and studio photography. Its close focus distance is 1 metre.
Compact and built to the highest standards, with a built-in extendable lens hood and an E55 filter thread, it remains a benchmark short telephoto for the M-System.
