This Privacy Policy governs how Camtec Photo collects, uses, stores, and discloses information collected from users (each, a “User”) of the camtecphoto.com website (“Site”). This policy applies to the Site and to all products and services offered by Camtec Photo.
Camtec Photo complies with the Act to modernize legislative provisions as regards the protection of personal information (Law 25, Québec), as well as any other applicable personal data protection law.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect information from users in different ways, including when they visit our site, register, place an order, or use other Site features (such as sending an email inquiry or subscribing to our newsletter). The information collected may include:

- Billing and shipping address (where applicable)
- Payment details (processed by our payment partner, see Section 3)

Payment data: We do not collect credit card details through the Site. When you place an order, your card number is converted into a secure token by our payment partner (Clover) before the order is submitted; your card details never pass through our servers.

Camtec Photo processes only the information necessary for the purpose for which it was collected. These purposes include:
- Processing orders and/or service requests you submit to us.
- Providing services related to your orders (for example, tracking information and warranty claim handling).

3. Sharing Your Personal Information

- Meta (Facebook tracking pixel): Our Site integrates the Meta (Facebook) pixel, which may collect certain browsing behaviour data for advertising and analytics purposes. - In connection with obtaining or maintaining insurance coverage, professional advice, or establishing, exercising, or defending legal rights.
4. Retention and Deletion of Personal Information
Personal data we process is not kept longer than necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. Applicable retention periods are as follows:
- Transaction-related information (name, postal address, email, phone): retained for up to 5 years from the transaction date, for warranty claim handling, after-sales support, fraud prevention, and accounting and tax obligations.
- User account information (name, addresses, phone, hashed password, email): retained as long as the account remains active. When your account is deleted, this data is deleted immediately. Data related to past orders cannot be deleted in this context and remains subject to the 5-year retention period noted above.
- Legal obligations: Notwithstanding the above, we may retain your personal data when such retention is required to comply with a legal obligation, or to protect your vital interests or those of another person.
5. Your Rights
Under Law 25 and applicable personal information protection laws, you have the following rights regarding the personal information we hold about you:
- To be informed about how we use your information and to access it.
- To request the correction or deletion of your information, or to impose restrictions on its processing.
- To object to the processing of your information, including for direct marketing purposes.
- Where processing is based on your consent, to withdraw that consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions.
- To receive the information you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format (data portability), where processing is based on your consent or on the performance of a contract.
- To file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (CAI), the competent supervisory authority for personal information protection in Québec (www.cai.gouv.qc.ca).
To exercise these rights, or for any question relating to your personal information, please contact us using the details provided in Section 9. We will respond to your request within 30 days of receipt, in accordance with Law 25 requirements.
6. Privacy Incidents
In the event of a privacy incident involving your personal information (unauthorized access, disclosure, or use) that poses a serious risk of harm, Camtec Photo undertakes to:
- Notify the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (CAI) as soon as possible, in accordance with Law 25.
- Inform you of the incident if it is likely to cause you serious harm.
- Record the incident in an internal register, in accordance with our legal obligations.
7. How We Protect Your Information
We implement appropriate security practices and measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. The exchange of sensitive data between the Site and its users takes place over a secure SSL communication channel, encrypted and protected by digital signatures.
8. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies for the following purposes:
- Authentication: to identify you when you visit and browse the Site. These cookies are necessary for the Site to function and cannot be disabled.
