Summer Vibes: One seminal exhibition, two colour-powered books.

A one-stop exhibition reveals the fabric that binds two great cities

For the fortieth anniversary of their becoming sister cities, photographer Daniel Wiener – a great friend of the Boutique – reimagines Montreal and Shanghai, creating an authentic and uplifting photo-essay that revels in our shared humanity.

From August 11 thru 23, the City of Montreal is hosting Pas de Deux: A tale - in three parts - of two cities.. Please come to a get-together to view the photos, mingle and have a good time on Thursday, August 14, 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM at the Conseil des Arts de Montréal, 1210 Sherbrooke St. East. The Camtec team will be there.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Color is Power - Robert Walker

In Color is Power, we are once again guided by the sharp and discerning eye of Montreal’s Robert Walker.

Originally a painter, Walker shifted to photography after discovering the vibrant world of street photography. Moving to New York in 1978—the epicentre of the genre—he fully embraced photographic art, producing significant works and exhibiting widely in renowned museums and galleries worldwide.

This book delivers a sensory jolt through vivid colour images captured on Kodachrome film. With his 35mm camera, Walker plunged into the bustling streets of major metropolises, capturing oversized billboards in the golden age of advertising and the electric pulse of city life across the globe.

At once contemporary and a time capsule, Color is Power celebrates the raw energy of urban colour photography. First published over thirty years ago, this redesigned edition highlights its enduring themes with fresh clarity.

Civilization: The Way We Live Now - Curated by William A Ewing

This book is the antithesis of a typical monograph photo book.

Visitors to our boutique know that we usually feature monographs—single-photographer works that give a focused, personal vision. Themed collections featuring multiple photographers are not usually my preference. But if there’s ever an exception, this is it.

William A. Ewing is as authoritative a voice on modern photography as you’ll find. With his expertise and insight, he has gathered images from some of the most significant photographers of our era, curating a powerful visual narrative of humanity’s frenetic, interconnected life across the globe.
