Camtec Photo - Fujifilm Photo Contest, October 2026 - All Around the Wheel
Camtec Photo and Fujifilm Canada are pleased to announce a contest and event: “All Around the Wheel”
Montreal and all its beautiful, diverse neighbourhoods played host to the Grand Prix cycliste de Montréal and UCI World Championships this September.
The two-week event reinforced Quebecers' love of cycling, whether for transportation, recreation, or simply getting out for a ride. Local cycling enthusiasts came out to take in the racing, cheer on the riders, and photograph the action.
To celebrate this once-in-a-generation event, Camtec Photo is thrilled to announce the All Around the Wheel Photo Contest.
The theme of the contest is images that capture the action and imagination of this universal sport, along with the family outings it inspires. We're looking for photographs that highlight cycling in all its forms.
Be it a race photo of riders in spandex and Darth Vader-style helmets or a child wobbling through a first tricycle ride, a great photograph can capture the excitement, the drama, and the joy of this most human of activities.
Dazzle us!
You can participate from today until NOVEMBER 6, 2026.
The results will be announced on NOVEMBER 19, 2026, during our Fujifilm event at the boutique.

Meet Richard Cavalleri: Photographer, Polyglot, Citizen of the World
I've known Richard Cavalleri for years. He is a part-time Montrealer and a full-time citizen of the world. A few years ago, he walked away from a career in finance to pursue his true passions: travel and photography. He has never looked back.
Fluent in several languages and blessed with a real knack for connecting with people, Richard has spent years building a deep knowledge of places and trails that most outsiders never discover. With respect for the local landscapes, history, and culture, he leads small groups (usually two to four people) on intimate photo trips, far from the crowds. And yes, he is an amazing photographer.
From the four corners of Europe to the Middle East, and from Africa to Asia, Richard has been there. He has uncovered the hidden gems that make the road less traveled so well worth exploring.
His rates are honest and reasonable, and his clients, many of whom are also clients of Camtec, rave about the quality of the experience and the value they receive. Richard is thorough, with a gift for logistics and planning, so you can focus on what matters: the shot.
His 2027 schedule is already taking shape:
- Tuscany & Cinque Terre: April 23 – May 3
- Uzbekistan: May 8 – 19
- Madeira: September 10 – 17 and September 18 – 25
- The Dolomites: October 7 – 14
- Slovenia: October 14 – 21
If you'd like to join a photographic adventure with like-minded people, don't hesitate to drop him a line. Richard is approachable, engaging, and always happy to chat about what's possible.
Willkommen bei Leica
Our colleague Francis was lucky enough to be invited to Leitz Park in Wetzlar last September. Between meetings, training sessions, a deep dive into the company’s history, and a few photo walks through the old town, he enjoyed an experience that was as enriching as it was inspiring.
His story and photos will be online next week. Keep an eye out for our next mailing to follow his adventures in the land of Oskar Barnack!
Leica, at the Heart of What We Love
Our German friends do more than dazzle us with the charming town of Wetzlar, their remarkable museum, and their state-of-the-art factory. They also offer what we believe may be the finest lineup of digital cameras in their history. From the Leica SL3-P to the M11-P, with the entire Q family in between, Leica’s red dot has perhaps never shone brighter.
Let’s start with the Leica SL3-P. Announced this summer, it is probably the most interesting evolution of the SL system to date. Built on the excellent SL3 platform, it strikes a remarkable balance between image quality, speed, and video capabilities. Its L-Mount opens the door to an ever-growing selection of lenses, including the long-awaited Leica APO-Macro-Elmarit-SL 100 f/2.8. Together, they make for a remarkably versatile system, ready to accompany you on a wide variety of photographic and cinematic projects.
Initially available for pre-order, the SL3-P is now in stock at our boutique, and we’re delighted to finally have it on our shelves.
The Leica M11-P is no less impressive. The M system remains one of the finest examples of what makes Leica unique. What other manufacturer would still champion a rangefinder camera with such conviction, if not a company deeply aware of the historical and technical significance of this approach to photography?
The Leica M is neither a relic nor a camera reserved for nostalgics. It is a thoroughly modern tool, designed for a very particular way of making photographs. Simplicity of operation, compactness, fluidity, discretion: these qualities have always defined the M system, and they are beautifully embodied in the M11-P, which we also have in our lovely boutique.
Leica doesn’t just develop cutting-edge cameras and lenses; it also knows how to bring treasures from its past back to life. The new Summicron-M 66 f/2, a modern reinterpretation of an exceptionally rare lens designed by Walter Mandler at Ernst Leitz Canada for the US Navy in the late 1960s, is a wonderful example. Limited to just 660 units worldwide, it is a testament to Leica’s exceptional craftsmanship. Although we still don’t know when it will reach our boutique, we remain impressed by the care that has gone into its design and the unwavering dedication of Leica’s engineers in Wetzlar to optical excellence.
Finally, we have the Leica Q3 and its siblings, the Q3 Monochrom and the Q3 43. At the intersection of modern photographic technology and Leica’s rich heritage, they combine sophisticated autofocus systems with exceptional optics from Wetzlar. Each in its own way makes for an outstanding travel companion.
Whether used on their own or alongside an M or SL system, they deliver extraordinary image quality while removing one of photography’s most familiar dilemmas from the equation: which lens should I bring today?
No more second-guessing. Just grab your camera and head out to take pictures. It’s hard to imagine anything more Leica than that.
