The Speedlite EL-1 (Ver. 2) flash is the next-generation all-purpose flash that professionals and advanced amateurs are looking for, offering durability, reliability, and a power range that opens up a number of possibilities. The new xenon tube provides increased stability for flash output and 14 full f-stops of flash exposure, allowing you to take your shot anywhere, from a bright 1/1 to a low 1/8192 power level to sculpt your scene precisely according to the light.
Maximum guide number of 60 m (197 ft) at ISO 100, reflector with wide 24–200 mm range
The Speedlite EL-1 flash has a maximum guide number of 60 m (197 ft) at ISO 100 to give you the versatile lighting you want for flash photography in various situations, such as outdoor weddings, portraits, and low-light indoor event scenarios. It offers a wide flash coverage from 24 to 200 mm to suit popular 24–105 mm and 70–200 mm lenses, and can even be used with lenses as wide as 14 mm thanks to the built-in 14 mm wide-angle panel. To maximise power and improve user-friendliness, the Speedlite EL-1 flash automatically zooms with your lens's focal length from 24 to 200 mm based on your camera’s sensor (full-frame or APS-C), or a manual setting can be selected for manual control.
New rechargeable lithium-ion battery using LC-E6 battery charger
Performance and convenience have been improved thanks to the new compact and rechargeable LP-EL lithium-ion battery pack. It provides the power and reliability needed to shoot in any situation—especially weddings or photojournalism—where a moment may be unique, so you can trust the flash’s recycling performance when shooting for extended periods. You can even see the remaining battery level on the top right screen of the Speedlite EL-1 flash, indicating how long you can continue shooting or whether it's time to recharge the battery with the LC-E6 charger.
Improved recycle time (0.9 s) and number of flashes (335 times)
Additional advantages of the new rechargeable lithium-ion battery of the Speedlite EL-1 (Ver. 2) flash include the speed at which the flash recycles, allowing you to use it repeatedly, one flash after another. With a recycle time of approximately 0.9 s (about 6 times faster than the 600EX II-RT flash when used with AA/LR6 alkaline batteries), you’ll get improved consistency and reduced underexposed black frames when the moment arises. The enhanced power of the rechargeable lithium-ion battery is also shown by how many times you can fire the flash when fully charged—up to 335 times (about 3 times more than the 600EX II-RT flash when used with AA/LR6 alkaline batteries) before needing to recharge or simply replace it with another LP-EL battery.
New active cooling system for extended use and improved thermal management
An active cooling system helps circulate air throughout the flash head to keep it cool during long periods of continuous firing, using a fan and a glass panel to improve heat resistance. This cooling system allows you to fire the flash for approximately 170 continuous shots without compromising the dust and water resistance of the Speedlite EL-1 (Ver. 2) flash.
