Circa 1970, this Leica ultra-wide lens was first introduced in 1968 with the release of the Leicaflex SL which had no mirror lock-up facility and therefore could not be used with the original f/3.4 version.
It's a 3-CAM, 10 elements in 8 groups design. It is fully compatible with reflex viewing as well as TTL metering.
The lens shows signs of use on the focus and aperture rings. Optically and mechanically, the lens is in excellent condition.
50 years later and with the right adapter, this Leica Classic R lens can be used on a wide variety of modern digital cameras, in particular the Leica SL and SL2 where the close focusing (20 cm) on this wide angle lens will deliver and impress by its optical qualities and character.
