Description
The Sony FX5 features a 5K full-frame stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor with fast readout, low noise, and over 15 stops of dynamic range, delivering exceptional detail, smooth gradation, and natural colour in challenging lighting conditions.
Powered by the BIONZ XR2 processor with integrated AI, the camera offers advanced subject recognition, Real-time Eye AF, Auto Tracing White Balance, and highly reliable autofocus with 759 phase-detection points for precise tracking of people, animals, and birds.
Capture in full-frame 5K Open Gate recording up to 60 fps, 4K up to 120 fps, and record 16-bit X-OCN compressed RAW internally without an external recorder. Multiple RAW codecs provide the flexibility to balance image quality and file size.
Three Base ISO settings (800, 4000, and 12800) and Dual Gain technology maximize dynamic range while minimizing noise, producing clean images from bright daylight to extremely low-light environments.
Sony's renowned S-Cinetone, S-Log3, S-Gamut3, and S-Gamut3.Cine colour profiles provide cinematic colour reproduction, natural skin tones, and extensive grading flexibility, with support for user LUTs and seamless colour matching with VENICE 2.
Built-in anamorphic de-squeeze supports 1.3x to 2.0x lenses, while 5-axis in-body image stabilization, Dynamic Active Mode, and stabilization metadata help produce smoother handheld footage.
Designed for professional filmmaking, the lightweight body includes dual CFexpress Type A/SD card slots, a high-brightness 3.5-inch multi-angle touchscreen, CineAlta-inspired controls, customizable tally lights, multiple accessory mounting points, and an efficient cooling system for extended recording sessions.
Extensive connectivity includes HDMI Type A, dual USB-C ports with Power Delivery, wired 2.5GbE LAN, Wi-Fi 6, remote operation through Sony Monitor & Control, and full compatibility with Catalyst Prepare for stabilization, lens compensation, colour management, and post-production workflows.
The FX5 is built for demanding productions with a dust- and moisture-resistant magnesium alloy body, long battery life, advanced monitoring tools including waveform, false colour, histogram, and focus map, plus accessibility features such as screen reader support and menu magnification. Future firmware updates will add additional recording modes and workflow enhancements.
