Detail: This Tiger Claw 50mm lens is Six-bit coded

There is No Leica M Photography without 50mm! I actually started saying this phrase right after acquiring my 50 Cron V4 with the focusing tab. The lens, which is still my go-to lens to this day, consistently delivered perfect, sharp, eye-pleasing results.

This lens came back from Leica recently where it was Six-Bit coded and thoroughly checked and adjusted. Optically and functionally the lens is in perfect conditions. The focus ring and throw is smooth and even, the aperture ring is firm. The lens is also in excellent cosmetic condition.

In my opinion, no other lens shows the genius of Mandler and his unique approach to combining optical design in search of perfection and the design of the mechanical and user interface like this humble 50 Summicron. Perfect size, perfect form and perfect function. Rangefinder tab and aperture rings are perfectly spaced for easy access.

When people talk about the “Leica Look” that a Leica lens can produce, more often than not, they are referring to the results of the Version 4 Summicron, both on film and on a digital M
