Description
Donigan Cumming is an American-born photographer and visual artist who has been living and working in Montreal since the early 1970s.
His work has been selected for, shown in, and collected by numerous festivals, museums, and galleries.
In 1991, he published what I consider to be his seminal work, The Stage.
This collection features environmental portraits of people in Canada and along the east coast of the US, created over a 10-year period.
The photographs offer a glimpse through the barbed-wire windows of people being who they are—or how they want to be seen. Shot on film, each image captures the fleeting "golden moment" between the staged and the spontaneous.
The book was redesigned and beautifully reprinted in 2014 as a hardcover edition, featuring exquisitely toned monochrome images.
A limited number of signed copies are available at the attractive price of $45.
