Description

Built-in RICOH-original HDF (Highlight Diffusion Filter), to create softer, more expressive images
The GR IV HDF incorporates the RICOH-original HDF (Highlight Diffusion Filter), which is designed to emphasize highlights and produce mellow, soft images. Developed by taking advantage of the advanced inkjet technology RICOH has cultivated over the years, this special-effect filter diffuses highlight areas and creates a blurred effect along the image’s edges, making it possible to capture nostalgic images resembling those captured in film photography or movies. HDF can be instantly switched on and off with a single action, allowing the user effortlessly to alternate between two completely different visual expressions — clear, sharply focused images representative of the RICOH GR series, and softer light, more expressive images captured by the HDF — depending on the subject or creative intention.

HDF default setting for Fn Button and update to Shutter-release button colour

The default setting of the Fn (Function) button has been changed to the HDF ON/OFF switching function, allowing the user to quickly engage the HDF (Highlight Diffusion Filter) with the press of the button.

High-sensitivity and Low-noise Back-illuminated Sensor.
25.7M CMOS Image Sensor

Accurate reproduction, rich tones, and high-sensitivity performance. To enhance each of these areas, the GR IV uses a back-illuminated APS-C size equivalent CMOS image sensor (approx. 25.74 million effective pixels). This makes it possible to fully utilize all of the light collected by the new GR lens with high sensitivity and low noise. In addition, a new UV/IR protection filter has been developed for the front surface of the lens. In particular, by enhancing the permeability on the long wavelength side, the amount of incident light to R pixels has been increased, improving color reproduction.

Advanced Imaging Power and Mobility. GR ENGINE 7

The new GR lens and image sensor deliver a wealth of information and the new GR ENGINE 7 uses it to the full in images. Improved image processing capabilities enable delicate, realistic reproduction of details. In addition, faster processing speeds improve camera response times, including AF. These features enhance the high image quality and mobility required of a snapshot camera.

Expand the Realm of Possibilities.ISO 204800

The GR IV features better high-sensitivity performance with a maximum setting of ISO 204800. You can now flexibly set the sensitivity according to your shooting style. High SN ratio signals output from the back-illuminated image sensor are optimally processed on our original accelerator unit and then sent to the GR ENGINE 7. The flexibility of the sensitivity settings expands the possibilities of expression.

Powerful Snapshot Capabilities.5-axis, 6-step Image Stabilization

The camera detects shaking even during sudden snapshots. The image sensor instantly activates to correct camera shake. The GR IV features 5-axis image stabilization. In addition to conventional angular and rotational blur, it also corrects shift blur, which tends to be noticeable during close-up shooting. A fully developed correction algorithm delivers enhanced performance up to 6.0* steps when converted to shutter speed.

The ND (Neutral Density) filter is not available with the RICOH GR IV HDF. All other functions of the RICOH GR IV HDF are identical to those of the RICOH GR IV.Accurate reproduction, rich tones, and high-sensitivity performance.
