Along with the 50mm, the 21mm is my favorite focal length. Since the arrival of this newly designed lens, it became the standard by which all ultra wide angle lenses are judged. Diminutive design, perfectly balanced on the camera it is so handy. Optical quality is unparalleled in terms of sharpness and correction. This recent production lens is excellent, as new condition!
Joining the latest generation of Leica M optics renowned for superior performance, the wide angle 21mm/f3.4 Super-Elmar will rewrite the rules on backlit photography. Among its exceptional attributes is a flare resistant design that maintains image contrast under extreme conditions. Distortion, vignetting and chromatic aberrations are all well controlled. Even at its maximum f3.4 aperture, outstanding image quality is delivered. A compact, lightweight design makes this Super-Elmar very attractive to street photographers, but the lens will also appeal to landscape, architectural and any demanding photographer needing a short focal length wide angle, whether he or she uses a digital M or film rangefinder camera.
