Description
The Leica Extender L 2.0x doubles the reach of compatible SL telephoto lenses. Weighing about 220 g and measuring roughly 47 mm long, it mounts on the L bayonet between camera and lens, with a contact strip that transfers metadata so the extended focal length and aperture are written to the image data.
Its optical system uses eight elements in four groups. It is designed for the Vario-Elmarit-SL 70-200 f/2.8 ASPH. (extending it to 140-400 mm) and the Vario-Elmar-SL 100-400 f/5-6.3 (extending it to 200-800 mm, or up to 1200 mm equivalent in APS-C mode), at a cost of about two stops of light. It is weather-sealed against dust and spray with an AquaDura coating.
