Description
The Elmarit-M 28 f/2.8 ASPH. unites balanced lens speed with an impressively compact form, making it especially well suited to discreet street and travel photography. Despite its modest dimensions, it achieves exceptional sharpness across the frame, with strong contrast rendition and minimal distortion. Its short focusing distance adds responsiveness and precision for spontaneous snapshots.
Its optical configuration consists of eight lenses arranged in six groups, including an aspherical element that effectively corrects spherical aberration and distortion. Its close focus distance is 0.7 metres, and a rectangular screw-on lens hood, replaceable by a screw-in protector ring, offers dependable protection against glare.
The precisely engineered aluminium housing, with an E39 filter thread, delivers exceptional stability at minimal weight. At roughly 180 grams it is one of the most compact lenses in the entire Leica M portfolio, almost destined to remain on the camera. A prime example of well-thought-out Leica engineering.
