Description
The APO-Vario-Elmarit-SL 90-280 f/2.8-4 is the reference telephoto zoom of the SL-System, prized for outstanding optical performance across its range. Its zoom range follows directly on the Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-90, so together the two cover 24 to 280 mm.
Its apochromatic optical system comprises twenty-three elements in seventeen groups, seven of them anomalous-partial-dispersion glass, resolving the finest detail without colour fringing and with high contrast at every setting. A newly developed double internal focusing system, in which two lightweight elements move towards each other driven by linear stepping motors (Dual Synchro Drive), gives fast and almost silent autofocus; the overall length stays constant when focusing or zooming. It focuses to 0.6 m at 90 mm.
Optical image stabilisation compensates up to 3.5 stops. A lockable, removable tripod collar, robust weather-sealed construction and the E82 filter size complete a professional super-telephoto, made in Germany.
