Description
We are proud to present the long-awaited reissue of Jim Lager’s landmark works, Leica: An Illustrated History. Recognised worldwide as the foremost Leica historian and a founding member of the LHSA, Jim Lager has dedicated his career to documenting the legendary brand’s evolution.
Originally published in the 1990s, this three-volume series quickly became the definitive reference for Leica collectors and historians. Long out of print, the first two volumes – Volume 1: Cameras and Volume 2: Lenses – have become highly sought after, often trading at many times their original value. More than three decades after their original publication, Jim Lager has redesigned, reedited, and reprinted these two volumes to mark Leica’s 100th anniversary.
- The 2025 Leica 100th Anniversary Edition gives collectors and enthusiasts the opportunity to once again own these important works, now with:
- Enhanced image quality throughout
- Elegant leatherette covers with inset photographs, echoing the rare deluxe editions
- Individually numbered copies
- Each copy hand-signed by Jim Lager on a translucent tipped-in edition page
Two editions are available. Both are numbered and signed, while the Art Edition is limited to 100 sets and includes two unique fine art black-and-white photographs by Jim Lager. These images, never before released, pay tribute to Alfred Eisenstaedt, one of the 20th century’s greatest photographers, and his legendary Leica M3 (serial # M3E-1). Printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art baryta paper, they represent a rare and remarkable addition certain to be treasured by Leica aficionados and photography enthusiasts alike.
