The RF20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ lens is the first full-frame powered zoom lens from Canon. It combines excellent optics and high performance, providing a wide angle of view in a powerfully versatile lens. The L-series optical performance is highlighted by two aspheric glass elements and three Ultra-low Dispersion glass elements. The RF20-50mm F4L IS USM PZ lens delivers reliable, speedy, and quiet wide-angle performance, making it an ideal lens for photographers and video creators.
Standard-angle zoom
With coverage ranging from ultra-wide to standard focal lengths, the RF 20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ lens makes it easy to capture entire scenes while still allowing you to zoom in for details and close-ups. This range is also well suited to shooting on the move and in tight spaces.
The power to zoom
The RF 20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ features an internal power zoom system that requires no additional accessories. The zoom ring can be rotated left or right to engage a variable-speed powered zoom for smooth, professional-looking results. It is also compatible with the built-in zoom lever on certain EOS cameras, such as video-focused models like the EOS R6 V. The lens can switch to full manual operation across the 20–50mm range, functioning like a traditional zoom lens. Power zooming can also be controlled remotely via the Canon Camera Connect app or Canon Bluetooth Remotes BR-E1 and BR-E2.
Outstanding image quality
The RF 20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ incorporates three UD elements and two aspherical lenses, delivering high image quality from centre to edge while maintaining a compact design. The constant f/4 aperture ensures consistent exposure throughout the entire zoom range, from 20mm to 50mm. Air Sphere Coating (ASC) is used to reduce ghosting and flare.
Get up close
This lens enables detailed close-up shooting with a maximum magnification of 0.33x at 50mm and a minimum focusing distance of 9.4 inches, allowing for expressive near-subject imagery.
Optical image stabilisation — up to 6.0 stops of shake correction
Built-in optical image stabilisation helps reduce blur, even when shooting handheld. It provides up to 6.0 stops of shake correction, making it ideal for indoor or low-light conditions. When combined with an EOS R camera featuring in-body image stabilisation (IBIS), Coordinated IS delivers up to 8 stops of correction at the centre and in the corners.
High-speed, smooth and quiet autofocus and zooming
The lens uses three Canon-developed USM motors for fast, smooth and quiet operation. Two motors control zoom group movement, while the third handles focusing. Despite their compact size, these motors deliver strong torque while remaining nearly silent.
Compact and lightweight
Weighing just 0.9 lb (420 g), the RF 20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ remains compact and lightweight, especially for a lens with a built-in power zoom system.
